Mokokchung, Feb. 16 (EMN): Clean election campaign initiated by ABAM in Mokokchung district seemed to have created some positive significant impacts for the ensuing state assembly election.
In Mopungchuket village, a common Town Hall meeting was organised for both the contesting candidates under 23 Impur assembly constituency on February 16 to air their vision and agenda which was attended by an overwhelming audience.
TN Manen of NDPP, who is contesting for the third time from 23 Impur assembly constituency, stated that his intention of contesting the election was to do something good for the Asetkong range and the state. Manen said he wanted to lead the people with a new vision and challenges especially by emphasising on economic development, employment generation for the youth and road connectivity.
He also said the upgrading Kobulong EAC to SDO (C) Hq besides declaring Impur as a Christian pilgrimage centre were his core agendas.
The sitting MLA Dr. Imtiwapang Aier countered that the issue to upgrade Kobulong EAC to SDO (C) Hq has been already proposed in principle during his tenure.
Apart from road construction connecting Impur junction to Mokokchung, Dr. Aier said in his two and a half year in power, he had initiated projects for constructing a mini stadium in Impur, a Geology and Mining office in Kobulong, and implemented the first phase of solar light and tube well boring in the constituency.
Expressing his ambition and vision to the electorates, the NPF candidate also asserted that women’s economic empowerment and youth empowerment are his “personal manifesto.”
Stating that solving the exponential growth of unemployment problem is a major problem in the society, Dr. Aier assured to initiate sustainable economic projects for the youth to solve the unemployment problem.
Dr. Aier also asserted that he envisaged affiliating Clark Memorial Higher Secondary School, Impur, to CBSE and gradually upgrade to University level to provide quality education. He has assured to work harder toward achieving his ambitious dreams if they elect him again.
