IMPHAL, January 17
[dropcap]T[/dropcap]o initiate the safety release of Angom Patel Singh (55), son of late Ibohal of Uripok Ahanthem Leikai and employee of Imphal West division Public Works Department (PWD), Manipur, who was abducted for ransom by some unidentified persons along with other three persons on January 11 from their worksite at Singda Dam complex around 12:15 pm, a sit in protest was staged today at PWD complex located at Khoyathang here. The protest was organized by the All Manipur PWD Employees Workers Association (AMPWDEAWA), said T Tikendrajit, president of the association.According to the protestors, Angom Patel is a simple employee of the department and that his kidnapping is relied on some baseless grounds. The Association has urged the concerned parties involved in the abduction to allow his safe release soon without any condition and allow the smooth functioning of the department and the employees.
Patel, whose whereabout is still unknown, leaves his family members in distress, said the president of the Association. Along with him the other three persons kidnapped were mohari Sarangthem Ingo (50), son of Gumalchat of Malom Tuliyaima Mayai Leikai, and two dozer drivers, Laishram Bijesh (26), son of Manglemjao of Wangou Noudakhong, and Sorensangbam Anand Singh (25), son of Hero of Thoubal Khatri Leikai who were all working at the site on the day of the abduction.
