EMN Kohima, August 18 Following a joint meeting with Imnatemsu Imchen’s parents and his family members at their residence in Kohima today in regard to the B. Sc Horticulture seat allotment issue, the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has requested Watinaro A. Imchen to call off her proposed sit-in-protest scheduled for August 19 at Secretariat junction, Kohima A release issued by NSF president Tongpang Ozukum and general secretary Esther Rhakho said the Federation requested them (Imnatemsu Imchen’s parents and his family members) to withdraw the candidate nominated by the Horticulture department, Nagaland for the seat reserved under NEC quota and to which they agreed in the greater interest of the student community and the Nagas. Therefore, while appreciating the good gesture shown by Imnatemsu Imchen’s parents and family members, the Federation assured to take up the matter with the government to ensure that such misunderstandings and confusion does not arise between the Department and the Government agencies, whereby innocent students are being made to bear the grunt for the negligence and lapses in the government policies and machineries. The Federation further resolved to further initiate necessary follow-up action in order to streamline the system. Meanwhile, Against Corruption And Unabated Taxation (ACAUT) Nagaland, as appealed by Watinaro A Imsong, has once again urged all civil societies, students, teachers, faculty Members, principals of colleges/university and right thinking individuals from all walks of life to come and assemble for a Gandhian sit-in protest agitation at 9.30 am on August 19 at Secretariat junction, Kohima to show solidarity to her struggle for justice and fight for the future of the student community. “It is time Naga people show resentment at the sad state of affairs,” the Media Cell, ACAUT, said in a release today.
