
DIMAPUR — Immunisation campaigns -- Intensified Mission Indradhanush (IMI) and Measles-Rubella (MR) Elimination Drive – in Kohima districts have witnessed a significant success, registering a coverage rate of over 95%, said Dr. Khrievilhou Nakhro, District Programme Officer for Reproductive and Child Health (RCH) and Universal Immunization Program (UIP) in Kohima.
He said this during the meeting convened by the Kohima District Task Force for Immunization, to discuss the progress of IMI, MR elimination drive and Routine Immunization (RI) at the DPDB Conference Hall in Kohima on Thursday, according to an update from DIPR.
While providing an overview of the status of immunisation in the district, the doctor said that despite the good response, some are still not vaccinated due to migration, refusal, and sickness during the vaccination sessions, which started in August and will continue till October 14 in Kohima district.
While expressing hope that the remaining individuals will be covered during the final round, he thanked the administration, various line departments and stakeholders for their continuous support in ensuring the success of these initiatives.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]The NHAK team updated on MDR (Measles, Diphtheria, and Rubella), while the Indian Social Responsibility Network (ISRN) gave an insight into the activities, interventions and experiences related to IMI and RI in both the urban and rural areas from July to October this year.
According to the update, a member of the team responsible for the City Embrace Model (CTFI - CEM) highlighted the status and activities of the initiative.
It was also mentioned that the team is planning to organize outreach sessions in outlying areas of the city in the near future while pointing out that it also encountered operational challenges such as inadequate basic infrastructure, a shortage of human resources, and poor coordination among line departments. For the successful implementation of the project, all stakeholders were asked to cooperate and overcome these challenges.
Four vaccinators and community mobilizers namely: Khrieleno Seletsu (ASHA) from Pfuchama village, Kekhriesenuo Kintso (CHO, Mima HWC) from Jakhama Block, and Bokali Yeptho (ANM) and Sevelu Puro (ASHA) Keyake from Kohima Block were felicitated with certificates and gift hampers during the meeting for their exceptional efforts towards the success of the campaigns.
Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, Shanavas C and SDO Kohima, Pichano lead the first and second sessions of the meeting respectively, said the update.
