Dimapur, Nov. 28 (EMN): The 26th annual sports meet of Immanuel College got underway on Thursday, November 28 on the theme “Unity through sports” at the State Stadium in Dimapur.
An update from the college informed that Dr. Andrew Ahoto Sema, chairman of Livingstone Foundation International, was the special guest for the inaugural programme. He unfurled the flag on the first day of the three-day sporting event.
Addressing the students on the occasion, Sema spoke about importance of staying active by making sports an integral part of our lives, which will also “train our mind and teach us to be more disciplined”. He urged “the students to be always ready to face challenges through strong determination and hard work”.
Sema told the students not to be discouraged even if “we fail to be a torch bearer” but rather “carry a mirror to reflect back the light”. He also encouraged the students to use their time judiciously; to lead a disciplined life; to be obedient and respectful towards others, especially their elders and seniors.
The inaugural function was chaired by Ashu Ritse (BA 6th semester student) and games & sports secretary of ICSC Amento Swu administered oath taking of the teams.
