DIMAPUR, AUGUST 14: Immanuel College, Dimapur, celebrated its 23rd annual social-cum-cultural day of with pomp and gaiety at the college premises on August 12.
The first formal session was held on the theme “Perfect blend of dynamism” with the Director of Higher Education, I Alempokba, as the chief guest and Alobo Naga as the guest artiste.
With exhorting the students, the College Principal, Th. Saratchandra Singh, said the college had seen tremendous growth in recent years with increased enrolment from 207 in 2007-08 to 948 during the current academic year. He appreciated both the college management as well as the teaching faculties for the growth. He also extorted the students be always prepared to face life challenges by quoting Benjamin Franklin, “By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.”
Touching on the theme “Perfect blend of dynamism,” he also urged the students “Don’t wait for the perfect moment. Take the moment and make it perfect.”
Complimenting on the big progress on the students’ enrolment, the chief guest, I Alempokba, said it was indeed a good story of success, a pleasant growth.
By the virtue of good infrastructure and good location, the college, in no time, could emerge to be an excellent institution for learning, he said.
Later, the chief guest exhorted the students saying things such as outlook, attitude and expectation are rapidly changing. He told the students not to dwell in old but progress with dynamism.
‘Conceptualise new dreams and ideals and do not get limited by your academic performance,’ he said adding the college could introduce functional English, a great demand in recent times especially in South East Asia as well as skill development.
“Start dreaming, imagine a future and with humility and hard work, go and explore the world,” the chief guest advised the students.
The guest artiste, Alobo Naga, urged the students to go beyond the usual routine of life and think out of the box. ‘Explore your passion with dedication and hard work and you will succeed in life,’ he said. He also enthralled the gathering with some lively numbers from his collection.
The session also included cultural dance, songs and many other dance performances from the students.
The second session of cultural programme held on the theme “Cultivating cultural identity of oneness” saw various presentations from the students including songs, speeches, dances, talent show, comedy and theatrical presentation. The highlight of the session was the crowning of the Mr. And Miss Fresher’s 2016.
After a tough preliminary as well as questioning round, Mr Wangpen, student of BA 1st semester and Miss Veshepulo, student of BA 1st semester were crowned Mr and Miss Immanuel College 2016.
