Delivering an exhortation message, Director General of Police Rupin Sharma highlighted the need for greater sponsorship and financial support to promote darts and other sports in the state.

Sharma appreciated the local entrepreneurs who had come forward to sponsor the event, noting that the sport could not grow without adequate financial backing.
He said that unlike major sports, which attract sponsorship from large corporate houses, emerging sports such as darts often depend on the support of smaller businesses and individuals.
“When there is sponsorship, the sport will grow. Without sponsorship, there is a limit to what a group of individuals can do financially,” he said.
Sharma expressed hope that larger business houses and entrepreneurs in Nagaland would come forward to support sports, enabling the Nagaland Darts Association to expand the game to more districts and increase participation.
He said darts is not a very expensive sport and, with adequate support, Nagaland could potentially produce national and even international champions.
The DGP also said he would explore the possibility of introducing darts in the Nagaland Police. However, he clarified that he was not making any commitment but would first discuss the proposal with police officers and examine it.
