IMFL seized from Pungro bound truck

EMN DIMAPUR, APRIL 20 Personnel of Excise and Narcotic Cell have confiscated 864 Canned Beer from a goods laden truck bound for Pungro town in Kiphire district and arrested one person on April 19 at Chumukedima check gate. The Excise duty party led by Inspector L Hevito Zhimomi and AIE Lanuyanger intercepted the truck at Chumukedima Excise check gate on April 19 at around 5 p.m. and during the search of the vehicle, 864 canned beer were detected hidden amongst 17 tons of grocery items. Azizu Sangtam, driver of the truck, was arrested and charged under relevant section of the NLTP Act ’89 for his involvement in the commission of the offence. He disclosed that the illegal consignment was loaded at Gorrapatti in Dimapur and was to be delivered to one Longpe (Ape) at Pungro town under Kiphire district.The seized articles are kept in the Mobile Squad Malkhana for future destruction,’ said GhokihoYeptho Superintendent of Excise Mobile Squad.
