Inaugurates new office building of the Ao Senden

Mokokchung, July 4 (EMN): Minister of Forest, Environment & Climate Change, L Imchen, asked the Ao community to do away with differences and petty politics stating that such attitude hampers the growth of the society. He rather advocated the community to come together as one people towards building a vibrant society.
Imchen said this in his address at the inauguration of Ao Kilem - the new office building of the Ao Senden, Ao apex body, located at Sangtemla Ward in Mokokchung town today.
Expounding on the old adage ‘unity is strength,’ the minister said that if the people are united, they can accomplish any task. He, however, said if the people point fingers at each other, it won’t bring any good but mischance to the people.
Imchen also asserted that the hour has arrived for Ao Senden leaders to exhibit their leadership to the people that their strength lies in unity.
The land for Ao Senden office, donated by the Kichu Kidong (Clan) of Mokokchung village, is ideally located near Mokokchung Deputy Commissioner’s office opposite Town Hall.
Imchen also lauded the Kichu Kidong for their benevolent gesture saying they have given the priceless gift- the pride of the Aos. He encouraged the Ao Senden new office bearers to let the new building to be a podium ‘where truth is spoken and prevails.’
A project of four-storeyed building, two floors have been completed in the first phase at a total cost of Rs 98,35,600, said I Ali Aier, an executive of Ao Senden.
The Ao Senden president, Imliyanger Jamir, in his welcome note, said that first phase of the building could be completed faster than expected with generous donations by all the member of the Ao community, Ao legislators, Kohima Aoer Officers’ Telongjem and various communities living in Mokokchung.
The Senden president also informed that the building is not only for the Ao Senden alone but for Ao Senden Literature Board and Watsu Mungdang, adding, the Senden is planning to include modern amenities during the course of further construction.
Short speeches were also delivered by Temjen Toy, Additional Chief Secretary; Mokokchung ADC Sachin Jaiswal; Imolemba Jamir, former Ao Senden president; Kichu Kidong Mokokchung village; and Chairman Sangtemla Ward.
The programmme was attended by Parliamentary Secretary of Tourism C Apok Jamir; Parliamentary Secretary of IPR Imtikumzuk; representatives from six ranges and various communities living in Mokokchung.
