MOKOKCHUNG — Independent candidate Imchatoba Imchen for the 28-Koridang Assembly Constituency by-election announced on March 26 that he has been allotted the election symbol “Bricks.”
Speaking to the media after formally receiving his symbol at Hotel Magnus conference hall, Imchen said that with six candidates now in the contest, the electoral battle has become clearly defined.
He urged voters to carefully identify his “Bricks” symbol and cast their votes without any confusion.
“There are six of us contesting the by-election and we will all fight till the end. I request the people not to make any mistake regarding my symbol and vote for the ‘Bricks’ symbol,” he stated.
Imchen, who hails from Mangmetong village, brings considerable experience to the fray. He has previously served as president of the Naga Students’ Federation and held key leadership positions in the youth wings of both the NDPP and NPF parties.

He has also been actively involved in various student and public organisations.
Explaining his decision to contest the by-election, Imchen said he is driven by a strong vision for the overall development and prosperity of the Koridang constituency.
He laid special emphasis on youth and women empowerment, while also focusing on generating employment opportunities for the unemployed youth.
Highlighting the vast potential of the constituency, he expressed his commitment to work sincerely in the agriculture and allied sectors, which he described as having tremendous scope for growth in the area.
Imchen appealed to the electorate to ensure a peaceful and democratic electoral process. “If the people find me capable of leading the constituency, I humbly request them to support me with their votes,” he said.
He also extended his best wishes to all fellow candidates for a healthy and fair contest.
When asked about past incidents of election-related violence in the constituency, the Independent candidate expressed confidence that such events would not be repeated this time.
He pointed out that all six candidates are relatively young yet mature, and share a common understanding to maintain peace during the polling.
“Koridang has often been linked with election-related violence in the past, but this time, I believe we will not see such incidents,” he remarked.
Imchen also highlighted the constituency’s rich legacy in Naga nationalism and assured that his approach towards the Naga political issue would be holistic and pragmatic.
