Kohima, Nov. 8 (EMN): With the peak season of tourists inflow around the corner, Nagaland government is going digital to facilitate the process of entry permits. Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio launched the Inner Line Permit (ILP) portal for domestic tourists at his office chamber, Nagaland Civil Secretariat in Kohima on Friday.
Speaking about the new portal, Principal Secretary of Home department Abhijit Sinha said the launch of the portal is part of promoting e-governance in the state; and to improve the implementation of the ILP regime.
“The online ILP is going to significantly ease the process of getting an ILP by any tourist from any part of the country who desires to visit Nagaland, particularly for the upcoming Hornbill festival,” Sinha said.
In addition to taking a step towards e-governance, it will improve the overall quality of monitoring of the implementation of the ILP regime, as well as giving the enforcement agencies real-time information about the applicants, the number of approvals obtained, the duration of visits, the places of visitation etc., he added.
After launching the portal, he told reporters that the online ILP module is only for domestic tourists. For renewal of the permit, one has to apply afresh. The department plans to scale up and reinforce the online ILP module by including all other categories of ILP applicants and by providing several other online verification features in the days ahead, he said.
The module for online ILP for tourist has been designed and developed for the Home department, government of Nagaland; and the department of Information Technology and Communication, government of Nagaland as part of promoting e-Governance in the state as well as for improving the implementation of the ILP regime.
The chief minister launched the online portal in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton, Chief Secretary Temjen Toy, DGP TL John and other officials.
How to apply
Any domestic tourist, including children, who wish to apply for an ILP can visit www.ilp.nagaland.gov.in and get registered by providing his/her phone number. On completing the registration, one time password (OTP) will be generated and sent to the phone number provided, which will be used for registration.
Documents required
Documents required to upload include a passport-size photograph along with a valid central government recognised photo ID such as Aadhaar, PAN card, EPIC card, driving license, passport, or government ID. For a child who is ten years and below, his/her school photo ID is sufficient for uploading, according to the principal secretary.
On submitting the requisite details, it will be automatically transmitted to the Commissioner Nagaland, who has been authorised to examine, and on finding that everything is in order will electronically grant approval for issue of ILP.
Once it is approved, the applicant will get an SMS in his/her registered phone and an email will also be sent conveying that his/her ILP application has been approved and he/she may proceed for online payment. The applicant will then go the website and make online payment, which is INR 50 for 15 days duration and INR 100 for 30 days duration.
After payment is made, the applicant will be issued an ILP card electronically and intimation will be sent to him/her via both SMS and email by clearly mentioning the ILP number. The applicant can download the ILP card in his/her email or visit the online ILP portal and then enter the received ILP number to download the ILP card.
The tourist may either take a print out of the ILP card or a digital copy of the same on his/her mobile phone and the same will be considered as valid lLP document when accompanied by a valid government recognised photo ID in original.
