Dimapur, Jan. 15: Ikiye Village Council (IVC) has refuted the news report on Chepoketa and Ikiye village reconciliation meet which was published in some local dailies on January 12 saying the village council has no knowledge of the said reconciliation.
Taking serious note of the news report, IVC held an emergency meeting on January 12 wherein it reprimanded Hokheto Aye, Dobashi (retd) and Inato Aye, Dobashi Satoi and son of late Sakiye , for misleading the public and defaming Ikiye village, its public and GBs. It said the reconciliation meeting between Chepoketa village and Ikiye village was held without its knowledge.
In a joint statement issued by the village chairman Kahoto Zhimo, secretary Phukato Chophy, Head GB Kakheto H Aye and GBs Kahoshe Zhimo and Hoshiho Achumi claimed that the reconciliation between the two villages was done on the individual capacity of Hokheto Aye and Inato Aye Dubashi. It said the village council or GBs of Ikiye Village have not authorised to any person for such reconciliation, adding the village council did to received any official letter/ correspondence from Chepoketa village council or GBs or Hokheto and Inato for the propose reconciliation of the two village.
It further claimed that Hokheto Aye and Inato Aye are not bonafide citizens of Ikiye village as they have migrated to Itovi village since April 1, 1987, and added that they do not hold any right to claim kinship and to interfere in any affairs of the village administration or aspiration under the name of Ikiye village without the village consent. Also stating that the claim of Hokheto Aye and Inato Aye as Head GB was baseless and misleading, the village council has warned to initiate its own course of action if anyone defame the name of IKiye village its public in the near future.
However, it said if Chepoketa village have keen interest for reconciliation with Ikiye village for committing murder of late Sakiye Aye of Ikiye village in the past decades, Ikiye village council is always welcome to restore blessing and reconciliation amongst the two villages. In this regard, it said Chepoketa village council may initiate necessary correspondence officially to the Ikiye village council.
