Dimapur, Oct. 15: Ikishe village council hall in Dimapur district was inaugurated on Mon. Oct. 13 by District Rural Development Agencies (DRDA) Project Director Atokhe Aye. The council hall was said to have been constructed with the contribution of the Ikishe village households and the Ikishe Village Council (IVC) through the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) and grant-in-aid with an amount of INR 11, 63, 600.
DRDA project director, Atokhe Aye, while speaking at the inaugural programme, said that the completion of the village council hall reflects ‘a display of good governance and transparency by the village households’.
Saying that the rural development department was for the for the people and will do their part, Aye asked the villagers for their cooperation to the department in its endeavours.
He remarked that the village, by the inauguration of the hall, has displayed the spirit of good governance, left a good precedence for themselves and others to follow and also as an eye-opener for the department.
Block Development Officer (BDO) Chumukedima block Yamao Konyak cautioned the village council that the dept. are aware of which villages utilises the funds judiciously and misuse the fund and also which village has cooperation.
The BDO also said that he was encouraged with the achievement and cooperation displayed by the Ikishe village council along with the households.
The program was chaired by IVC chairman Dr. Kheshito Zhimo and the dedicatory prayer was pronounced by the Pastor Ahoto Chophi. Village Development Board report was presented by Women VDB secretary Sentinaro Kinimi.
