Dimapur, Oct. 12 (EMN): The Indria Gandhi National Open University Study Centre - 2037, Phek Government College (Ignou SC-20137, PGC) organised its induction programme on Oct. 10 at the PGC old building, New Campus with Dr. T Iralu, Director, Ignou regional centre, Nagaland; Kohima as the guest speaker.
Dr. Iralu highlighted on the important role of Ignou in serving the educational aspirations to millions of learners in India and across 43 different countries of the world.
He said that the university was established by an Act of Parliament in 1985 with a network of 67 regional centres (RC) and 2667 learners support centres (LSCs). Dr. Iralu gave PowerPoint and provided an in-depth detail information of the courses offered by and familiarises the students on online distance learning methods.
The session was chaired by Dr. Thejotalu Nienu, assistant professor and office assistant Ignou SC-Phek district. While greeting and welcome address was given by Dr. Vizovol Mekro, principal Phek government college. Altogether 20 newly enrolled learners were present at the programme.
