
DIMAPUR — The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Regional Centre (RC), Kohima, conducted a meeting of the coordinators and programme-in-charges of the learner support centres under its jurisdiction at Hotel Japfu, Kohima, on February 27.
According to a press release, the objective of the meeting was to equip the participants with the fundamental knowledge and skills required for the smooth functioning of their respective centres and for providing better student support services.
It was attended by Dr. T Iralu, former regional director of RC Kohima, as the special guest. During the event, he shared his ideas and experiences from his tenure at RC Kohima and exhorted the attendees to strive harder to achieve even greater accomplishments than what has been achieved thus far.
Dr. Mayonmi Shimray, regional director of RC Kohima, gave a detailed presentation on the overall system, admission procedures, the renewal of part-time staff at the learner support centres, project preparation, and so on.
The session on finance and accounts, and administration matters at learner support centres was jointly presented by Kh. Sushil Kumar Singh and RV Tetso, assistant registrars at RC Kohima.
Limaakum Lemtur, assistant executive (DP), provided a detailed overview of assignment handling procedures, student grievances, the use of the university website, and student support services issues.
A discussion was also held about how to strengthen the student support services and reach out to the student community, particularly in rural areas, to raise awareness about the educational opportunities available at IGNOU.
