Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight programme was held at GPS Yaongyimsen, Mokokchung, on June 14.

DIMAPUR — As per the directives of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight (IDCF) activities were conducted across Mokokchung district from June 5 to the 17th.

A press release from the office of chief medical officer, Mokokchung, the IDCF activities were carried out in consonance with the country’s aim to intensify efforts towards “zero” childhood deaths due to diarrhoea across all states & UTs of India.

“The Ministry targets to reach 90% coverage of both ORS and zinc among the targeted population by the year 2025 as per India Action Plan for Pneumonia and Diarrhoea (IAPPD),” it stated.

To manage and control the high diarrhoeal mortality rate, the department of Health & Family Welfare, Mokokchung, implemented IDCF activities for prevention and control of deaths due to dehydration from diarrhoea across the health units and villages of the district.

The activities included awareness on diarrhoea management, hygiene, sanitation, strengthening service provisions for diarrhoea case management, distribution of ORS-Zinc by ASHAs in households, it stated.
