
- DIMAPUR — The Indian Council of Agricultural
Research (ICAR)-National Research Centre (NRC) on Mithun conducted its annual
Institute Research Committee (IRC) meeting on Tuesday.
- According to an update, the meeting was chaired by Dr.
Girish Patil S., Director, ICAR-NRC on Mithun, and Dr. Mihir Sarkar, Director,
ICAR-NRC on Yak, served as the external expert.
- During the meeting, scientists presented their ongoing
research activities, highlighting advancements in Mithun research and
discussing future directions.
- The discussions emphasised the need for stronger
collaboration between ICAR-NRC on Mithun and ICAR-NRC on Yak to enhance the
value and productivity of these unique hill bovines, as two young scientists
from NRC Yak also took part in the deliberations.

- A key focus of the meeting was on leveraging the
carbon-positive and climate-resilient nature of Mithun and Yak to promote
sustainable livestock farming in hilly regions.
