DIMAPUR — The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) Nagaland Centre conducted a training-cum-agricultural distribution programme and fertiliser awareness camp at Jaboka village under the Tizit block in Mon district on June 11.
According to an update, the programme was held under the project "Livelihood improvement and technological empowerment of tribal farmers of Nagaland through farm mechanisation".
During the event, the Joint Director of the ICAR Nagaland Centre, Dr. Homeswar Kalita, along with Scientist Jyotish Barman, handed over eight power weeders to farming groups and a cooperative society.
In line with the nationwide Khet Bachao Abhiyan, the team also conducted an awareness camp on the "balanced use of fertiliser". Farmers were educated on the benefits of using organic manure and growing green manure crops to improve soil health. Vermicompost and cowpea seeds were distributed as inputs to the farmers.
The programme, coordinated by T Thomas Konyak, was attended by nearly 100 farmers from Jaboka and Neitong villages.
