ICAR-KVK Phek conducts six-day skill training on soybean cultivation under natural farming at Porba.
DIMAPUR — The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR)-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Phek, in collaboration with the ICAR-National Soybean Research Institute (NSRI), Indore, Madhya Pradesh, organised a six-day skill training programme on soybean cultivation under natural farming from September 21 to the 26th at ICAR-KVK Phek, Porba.
According to a press release, the training programme aimed to enhance the knowledge and practical skills of farmers in soybean cultivation under natural farming, soil health management, integrated farming systems, water conservation, nutrient recycling, pest management, value addition, and climate-resilient agricultural practices.
The programme included technical sessions, interactive discussions, hands-on demonstrations, exhibition visits, and field exposure. Resource persons from ICAR-KVK Phek, ICAR-KVK Dimapur, ICAR-NSRI, Indore, and the Department of Horticulture, Phek, shared scientific recommendations and practical knowledge with the participants.
The technical sessions were delivered by Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Singh, Dr. Phool Kumari, Kelhouzakie Chielie, Dr. T Esther Longkumer, Dr. Bendangla Imsong, Lireni Kikon, Keniseto Chucha, and Pooja Sahani.
A demonstration on the preparation and application of natural farming inputs was conducted to provide participants with practical knowledge of eco-friendly and sustainable crop production practices.
A farmer-scientist interaction session was also organised, during which participants discussed field-level challenges, clarified queries, and received recommendations from the experts. The training concluded with the distribution of certificates to the participants.
