ICAR-KVK Dimapur conducts hands-on training for farmers on soybean and passion fruit processing and value addition.

DIMAPUR — A one-day hands-on training programme on soybean and passion fruit processing was conducted at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Dimapur on Monday with the objective of empowering farmers through food processing skills.
According to an update, during the training, awareness was provided on scientific preparation methods to enhance the shelf life of value-added products.
Dr. Chingakham Sima Chanu, Subject Matter Specialist (Home Science) at the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR)-KVK Dimapur, conducted sessions on scopes, opportunities, and scientific techniques for soybean and passion fruit processing and value addition. She also outlined the health benefits of soybean and passion fruit to the participants.
In the practical session, Dr. Chanu demonstrated techniques and protocols for processing and value addition. The participants actively engaged in the preparation of soymilk, tofu, soya chunks, and passion fruit jam.
A demonstration was also conducted covering hygienic preparation, packaging, labelling, and cost calculation for the prepared items.
Senior Scientist and Head of ICAR-KVK Dimapur Dr. Phool Kumari encouraged the participants to enhance their skills in food processing for income generation and livelihood improvement.
A total of 30 farmers attended the training programme and participated in the practical sessions.
