- DIMAPUR — The curtains on the two-day
International Association of Women in Radio & Television (IAWRT) Travelling
Film Festival in Kohima came down on Saturday at Centre for Excellence in Music
and Arts (CEMA), Kohima.
- According to a DIPR report, the event saw the screening of
14 internationally acclaimed films and documentaries, along with panel
discussions with award-winning documentary directors and producers Aparna
Sanyal and Deepika Sharma.
- One of the highlights of the Travelling Film Festival was
the screening of the film “Velvet Revolution”.
- “Velvet Revolution” is a unique collaborative venture
supported by IAWRT, where the executive producer, Nupur Basu, worked with women
directors from four countries who produced films in five countries: Illang
Illang Quijano—Philippines; Deepika Sharma—India; Pochi Tamba Nsoh and Sidonie
Pongmoni—Cameroon; and Eva Brownstein—USA/Bangladesh.
- In the collaborative film, six women directors focus on the
stories of women making news. Set against a backdrop of conflict and
authoritarian regimes, where journalists face constant threats from both state and
non-state actors, the film explores what motivates these women journalists to
continue their work.
