DIMAPUR — The Yachem Officers’ Forum has expressed dismay over what it described as “outrageous and unethical vilification” of one of its members, Dr. Anungla Imdong Phom, in connection with the ongoing controversy surrounding the IAS induction process in Nagaland.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the forum expressed appreciation the state government for upholding ‘statutory provisions’ governing the induction of officers into the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and for including one of its “distinguished and outstanding officers” in the non-State Civil Service (non-SCS) panel list.

While acknowledging differing opinions regarding the non-SCS IAS induction, the forum condemned the personal attacks and “character assassination” directed at Dr. Anungla.

It stated that the officer was being unfairly targeted and ‘shamed’ simply for being nominated and included in the panel list.

The forum urged individuals and groups to exercise restraint and avoid personal or defamatory remarks, warning that such actions could heighten tensions, damage social harmony, and lead to undesirable consequences detrimental to peaceful coexistence.

Reiterating its commitment to the rule of law, the officers’ forum called for the matter to be resolved strictly in accordance with established statutory procedures and guidelines.
