To harness renewable sources for clean and eco-friendly green energy, the 15th Border Roads Task Force and the NePED have successfully implemented their third scheme of installing hydro power generators to meet the power requirements of their camps and detachments spread all over the remote areas of Nagaland.
“The 3KW scheme for the BRO camp at Km 71 on Tuensang-Mon road, adjacent to village Yakshu was inaugurated on 5th Apr by the Advisor, NePED, Mr Naiba Konyak in the presence of Col SP Yadava, Commander 15 BRTF, Officers of 100 RCC and all esteemed members of the civil administration, local village councils and the team members of NePED,” a note from the organizers informed on Friday.
“With the press of a button, three decades of darkness were simply illuminated up by the glittering LED lamps installed in more than 30 houses and huts belonging to the Border Roads detachment and labour camps. The camp at Km 71 was set up in early 80s and ever since was dependant upon hurricane lamps and candle light for illumination.”
The advisor to NePED, Naiba Konyak, who inaugurated the facility, highlighted the initiatives being undertaken by the Border Roads in executing such schemes in collaboration with the NePED. He complimented the dedication and efforts of the dynamic team members of NePED led by Menukhol John, team leader.
He assured the BRO that the NePED would “ever be willing to take on other sites where ever the scope existed to harness the potential of the renewable sources of energy.”
Col SP Yadava, in his vote of thanks, appreciated the role of the NePED and highlighted the tremendous scope of tapping the renewable sources of energy within Nagaland and “the excellent effort, dynamism, dedication and commitment of the NePED team who were effectively pursuing this cause and spreading smiles all over.”
