Imphal, Oct. 25 (EMN): Hundreds of people turned up to highlight their grievances to chief minister, N Biren Singh, on the combined Meeyamgi Numit (People’s Day) and Hill Leaders’ Day held at the Durbar Hall of Chief Minister’s Secretariat today.
‘Meeyamgi Numit’ and Hill Leaders’ Day were organised by the state government on 10th and 15th of every month since May last year to hear the grievances of the public.
In the day’s public meet, chief minister personally attended to around 400 complainants and met nearly 1200 people within a span of five hours from 8:30 am, official sources said. A large number of people were seen gathered at the gate of CM’s Secretariat since early morning to obtain entry pass for monthly public meet.
Officials from the health department and Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences were present to attend to the people, who sought medical assistance, reimbursement and healthcare in government medical hospitals. Other departments including minority, other backward classes and scheduled castes, social welfare, education, information and public relations, Manipur state co-operative bank Ltd., and police were also deputed at the chief minister’s secretariat to help the visitors.
