Human values are losing its sanity in our world today. Life is becoming easier and cheaper every day. Life is Cheaper than money. Killing, cheating, demoralizing activities and disdainful languages are the usual round everywhere. Value of life is lost at the sight of material goods. Human mind is being absorbed in gaining and craving for material things. Eternal value in man is put out of mind. Human value is not valued as it should be. It is compromised with material promises.
Human value; the greatest and highest virtue of life is made the cheapest and most neglected things of life. The fact is endangering humanity. Our inner sight is being blinded by our greed for material gain. Therefore, life is blinded and deafened by temporal things. Hence cheapened.
The world is flooded with evil designs that destroy lives and souls. We need to consciously re-value our life and put first life above material worth and gain. Life has a soul which is of God. It must be treasured above all. No price can match the cost of life. Life is priceless; a gift to mankind as steward. No man has right to buy or sell life. Human values are defined as a virtue of life, a quality of things desired, loved and treasured in human mind. Milton Rokeach defines, Value as “an enduring belief about the way things should be done or about the ends we desire.” Value is worth of life or things. We live in an age of plentiful. Things matter more than life in everyday activities. Values of life are cheapening with the increase of greed for material gain. Human mind focuses more on materials values than human values. Human value is the cost of life we rate in our minds. It is a mental state of defining and counting the worth of life. Values are worth of things mentally framed. Human value is human worth. The good or bad, high or low standard of a people, a society or a nation depends on the quality of its citizens’ level of valuing life. Different person defines value differently. No two minds value life equally but think and count differently. Human worth must be recognized, respected and valued above money or materials. You are above price. Your principle should be established on this irrefutable truth so as your society will follow suit.
Human Ethics:
Ethics is a Greek word for ethos, meaning ‘character’. It is a code of man’s conduct in relation to others in the society. Ethics is a moral value that constitutes human society. Our society is not aware of this fact because we are individually blind to it. Life is blind because mind is blind to human ethical conscious living. It can only perceive. It cannot see but feel. Eye can see but cannot perceive. The eye can see the object but not the abstract. Our inner vision can see abstract things and decide our mental action.
The need of the hour is to relive with value always conscious in mind. One enlightened mind can kindle thousands of souls. Thousands of enlightened souls can transform the world. May this thought be in you as it is in all great men of the past and present so as our future is secured.
