Dimapur, March 23 (EMN): Nagaland State Commission for Women in collaboration with National Commission for Women, New Delhi, conducted a legal awareness programme on human trafficking at Sao Chang Government College, Tuensang.
The chairperson of NSCW, Dr. Temsula Ao in her introductory speech highlighted on human trafficking, its impact to the society, impact on the section of the people, measures done to control its network, child labour, sex slave, commercial human trade among others.
She also mentioned about children exploitation in the form of child forced marriage, forced begging and forced children to enroll in the armed forces etc. Human trafficking covers a huge perimeter from organ trade trafficking to sex trade which is modern day slavery, she added.
She encouraged the Church ministries or other NGOs to join hands to fight against the social evil prevalent in the society.
Khriesenuo, Legal Consultant NSCW, spoke on legal measures guaranteed by the law of the land. She said human trafficking is the third largest crime after arms and drugs related crimes. She also lectured on the immoral trafficking prevention Act 1946, security given to citizens of India by the Indian Panel Code, juvenile justice and other related laws covering the safety over human trafficking crimes.
Anti Mangyand, panel advocate of DLSA Tuensang also supplemented on the legal measures. She also spoke on the readiness of DLSA staffs to help and aid in the human trafficking related cases.
V. Ezung, Superintendent Police Tuensang spoke on the statistics of human trafficking related cases registered in the Northeastern State. He advised all the stakeholders of the state, parents and to be well informed and to come forward when such cases arise.
Welcome address was delivered by Lomti, assistant professor, while vote of thanks was proposed by Asangla Cholong, member NSCW.
The programme was attended by members of the NSCW, officials of District Administration, Police, DBs, GBs, teaching faculties and students of Sao College.
