DIMAPUR — The Holistic Rural Development
Programme (HRDP), sponsored by HDFC under its corporate social responsibility
(CSR) initiative and implemented by AROH Foundation in collaboration with the
district administration, was inaugurated in Mon on March 11 by Wangpang Konyak,
Advisor for Social Welfare.
According to an update, the event was also attended by Ajit
Kumar Verma, Deputy Commissioner of Mon, along with heads of departments, AROH
Foundation officials, and the people of Mon District. The initiative aims to
transform 15 villages across Mon, Tizit, and Chen blocks over the next three
years.
The inauguration began with the opening of a smart classroom
at Government High School, Mon, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. This was
followed by the official inaugural programme at the council hall of Mon
village.
Speaking on the occasion, chief guest Wangpang emphasised
that HRDP is more than a project—it is a vehicle for social and economic
transformation. He expressed gratitude to HDFC and AROH Foundation for their
commitment to inclusive development and urged the 15 village council
chairpersons and residents to maintain the newly developed infrastructure responsibly.
DC Verma explained the project’s vision of adopting villages
for complete transformation. He urged the AROH Foundation to prioritise basic
infrastructure development in its next action plan, as the district still lags
in essential facilities. He also extended heartfelt appreciation to HDFC for
its efforts in bringing change to one of the most remote regions of the
country.
Earlier, Angin Konyak provided a detailed overview of the
HRDP project. She highlighted that the project is designed to bring
comprehensive improvements across multiple sectors, ensuring holistic
development in the selected villages.
Hemant Singh Tanwar, project head of AROH Foundation,
concluded the event with a vote of thanks.
Furthermore, Wangpang Konyak flagged off two advanced life
support (ALS) ambulances at District Hospital Mon on March 11, which, according
to a press release, became possible through the “proactive efforts” of Verma.
Dr. Aman Konyak, MS of District Hospital Mon, delivered the
welcome address and expressed gratitude to National Hydroelectric Power
Corporation (NHPC) for providing the ambulances under its CSR initiative. He
also thanked the DC of Mon for ensuring continuous CSR support in the
healthcare sector.
Last week, Mon received two ALS ambulances and two hearse
vans under CSR support from NTPC. The DC of Mon acknowledged NHPC’s
contribution and reiterated the administration’s commitment to upgrading health
infrastructure. He urged the medical department to actively submit its
requirements for further improvements.
Wangpang also lauded NHPC’s initiative, stating that these
life-saving ambulances would significantly aid critically ill patients in the
district.
