Dimapur, Dec. 1 (EMN): Directorate of Higher Education on November 28 bade farewell to its retiring Director Kuholi Chishi at the office conference hall.
Kuholi Chishi joined Nagaland Government Services as a lecturer at Fazl Ali College in 1993 and had served both as a lecturer and principal till June, 2013. Later, she served as the principal of Dimapur Government College for two-and-a-half years. She joined the directorate as the additional director before being made the director of the department in May 2017. Throughout her career as an academician and administrator, she contributed immensely to the growth of Higher Education, Additional Director Dr. Anungla Aier said.
Guest of honour for the event, Minister for Higher and Technical Temjen Imna Along described the director as a ‘friend, a mother, a shining star and a woman who stands for what she believes in.’ He alluded to her as the initiator of the trajectory of growth in the higher education sector.
The minister hoped that she would continue rendering her services to the society as values cannot be undermined by retirement.
In her farewell speech, the director thanked the minister, the secretariat officials, staff, family members and all well-wishers for being a part of her professional journey. She attributed her success to her parents who had provided her ‘a very strong educational foundation.’ She encouraged the department to raise the standard of Higher Education and the officers to grow professionally.
Meanwhile, the department of Agriculture also bade farewell to its retiring Director Ikuto Zhimomi on November 30 at its office conference hall in Kohima.
Retiring Director G Ikuto Zhimomi in his farewell speech thanked the department officers and staff for their cooperation and support which enabled him to serve the department, especially the farmers. He expressed gratitude to all the 42 establishments of 11 districts for cooperating with the directorate and facilitating in carrying out works and programmes accordingly.
Zhimomi appreciated the minister of Agriculture and Co-operation G Kaito Aye and principal secretary and APC Imkonglemba Ao, for their support and proficient administrative guidance. He also thanked the government of Nagaland for giving him the privilege to serve the people of the state.
On the occasion, he also launched the official news bulletin (Agriculture News Letter 2017-2018) of the department.
Principal secretary and APC, Imkonglemba Ao, highlighted the achievements of the department under the leadership of the retiring director. He urged the officers and staffs to emulate the spirit of team work.
Highlighting the service profile of the retiring director, Jt. Director S Kivikhu Achumi said that during his tenure, many schemes and programmes were achieved; where ATMA has covered all the 11 districts and sub-divisions, RKVY formulation and preparation of DAP and SAP and Year of Farmers 2006 to 2007 during which he was awarded Governor’s Commendation Award and Vision 2025 preparations and documentation.
‘Additional Director C Peter Yanthan described Zhimomi as a humble and God-fearing person. He congratulated him for successfully completing 35 years of service.
