Don Bosco School of Dimapur organized a series of workshops recently with the hope to impress presents about the opportunities that science and mathematics have for students. They are subjects to be embraced and not feared, resource person said. The undated events, as the organizers informed, were conducted by Career CliniQ in association with the directorate of Employment and Craftsmen Training. Highlighting the opportunities that are possible in the field of Science, a four-day seminar was conducted for parents of the school’s students.
“It is noteworthy to mention that this is a campaign that has been initiated in various schools in order to educate parents on the numerous non-traditional science careers that are available both in the private and government sector,” the organizers stated in a note issued to the media on Thursday. “Scores of parents attended the meet on this busy working day and closely interacted with the officials to discuss on various career related issues,” the note said.
Addressing the occasion as a keynote speaker, director of Career CliniQ Dr. Anirban Choudhury highlighted the various modern employment avenues that were available in the science stream. He elucidated that science and mathematics come naturally to people in various forms in their day-to-day life. Hence, he said, they ought to be subjects that ‘we should embrace and not be fearful of’. He explained Newton’s three laws as examples to prove his point.
A career handbook highlighting various career avenues in science, namely career track, was also made available to the parents along with the digital courseware for various classes.
Concluding the event with his vote of thanks, Fr.Joshua, thanked the parents for their active participation and assured that the activity would be extended to the middle and junior classes as well in the near future.
“We hope that the Spirit of Science campaign meets the desired objectives with which it has been initiated. We call upon other schools too to actively participate in the campaign and organize similar meets for the parents of their respective schools,” the organizers added in the note.
