IMPHAL, Dec 20: The Manipur State Rural Livelihoods Mission (MSRLM), an autonomous society of the Rural Development & Panchayati Raj Department, is the designated state nodal agency for implementation of the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM) / Aajeevika, a centrally-sponsored scheme of the Ministry of Rural Development.
To boost the economy and empower the rural populations, intensive strategy implementation of the Manipur State Rural Livelihoods Mission under the Ministry of Rural Development has been in implementation in ten Gram Panchayats, according to a DIPR release.
MSRLM is also implemented in 84 villages with 19 villages in Imphal East in Phase -1, 11 villages in Imphal East in Phase -2, 29 villages in Machi and 25 villages in Tengnoupal.
A total of 399 new Self Help Groups is being promoted with 116 SHGs in Imphal East in Phase -1, 101 SHGs in Imphal East in Phase-2 and Machi and 81 SHGs in Tengnoupal. There are 409 SHGs formed in the state till September, 2016. 299 SHGs are providing bookkeeping training and 86 SHGs are providing membership training. A total of 4,693 households are mobilized into all SHGs.
267 SHGs have opened Saving Bank Account including 90 SHGs in Imphal East Phase -1, 87 SHGs in Imphal East Phase -2, 30 SHGs in Machi and 60 SHGs in Tengnoupal.
155 SHGs have been graded for Revolving fund. A total of 3,634 individual bank account has been opened with 1021 in Imphal East Phase -1, 1012 in Imphal East Phase -2, 889 n Machi and 713 in Tengnoupal,the release said.
MSRLM conducted various National Rural Livelihoods Mission awareness and workshops in four resource blocks and at State Institute of Rural Development, Imphal for the stakeholders. In October, 2014 MSRLM organized 12 days regional SARAS fair held at
DM(Arts) Imphal. 22 active women and 76 Panchayati Raj Institutions members were exposed in OMPLIS, Andra Pradesh following the High Level Exposure visit led by Minister of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj in August, 2016.
The office of the State Mission Management Unit (SMMU) and Block Mission Management unit (BMMU) is complete and occupied.31 staffs ( 8 for State and 23 for four blocks) are working since September, 2015.
MSRLM will be continuing SHG formation and nurturing as part of action plan for Nov’16 till Mar’ 17. MSRLM will also enter into MoU with leading banks to achieve good Financial Inclusion and conduct various capacity building for staff including annual write-shop cum visioning exercise for staff, the DIPR added.
