Dimapur, April 7 (EMN): One house was destroyed in a fire that broke out in Lerie colony near St. Mary Higher Secondary School in Kohima on April 5 at 6:31 pm. An update from Fire and Emergency Services stated that on receiving a call, the team from fire station Kohima (South) proceeded with fire tenders along with sufficient equipment. It stated that timely intervention averted a major tragedy. It said that the cause of the fire was due to the leakage of LPG cylinder.

In another incident, one house along with properties worth an approximate INR 4.5 lakh was destroyed on April 6 at Heningkunlwa village in Jalukie.

It stated that on receiving a call at 12:48 pm, fire tenders along with sufficient equipments and fire personnel were pressed into action. It said that the timely intervention of the team prevented the spreading to surrounding houses and could salvage property worth approximately INR 10 lakh. The cause of the fire was suspected to be from kitchen fire, it added.
