Horticulture processing unit inaugurated in Dimapur

A horticulture processing unit being inaugurated on January 27 in Burma Camp, Dimapur.

Dimapur, Jan. 28 (EMN): Under a grant assistance of the Mission Organic Value Chain Development in the north-eastern region, ministry of Agriculture and Farmer Welfare, and credit assistance from the North Eastern Development Finance Corporation Limited (NEDFi), a horticulture processing unit called Imchen Tea Product was inaugurated on January 27 at Burma Camp in Dimapur.

The value chain is a flagship scheme of the ministry to promote organic farming in the region through production, post-harvest management and marketing, a press release that was received here on Tuesday informed.

The integrated processing unit promoted by Lanuakum Imchen, an agriculture entrepreneur, will process multiple horticultural crops primarily pineapple, kiwi, large cardamom, ginger, turmeric etc., the updates stated.

‘The unit will give the much-needed market linkage support to one of the biggest organic pineapple clusters of the region situated at Molvom and Bunsang village of the state,’ the updates stated.
