For those who always want to enjoy an evening out with family in Kohima, the Hornbill Night Carnival 2013 an evening attraction of the International Hornbill Festival of Nagaland will commence from December 1 to 10 in three different locations. Briefing media-persons at Hotel Vivor here this evening, Kohima Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KCCI) president K Chris Kire said that the state government and KCCI would once again be providing a platform for the family to come and capture the evening moments of Kohima.
He also informed that this year the carnival has been rechristened as Hornbill Night Carnival from Kohima Night Carnival and it would held in three different locations starting from PR Hill (outside the Fire Brigade), Main town and High School Junction.
The KCCI chief proudly claimed that besides other activities of the festival, the night carnival is one of the attractions which has brought about far reaching consequences of overshadowing the negative cluster and giving positive image to the visitors. “This is the only gala event for families to have an evening outing,” he said.
Chris also maintained with a view to promote ethnic products during the night carnival, preference to set up stalls would be given to those persons coming up with ethnic products and food. “As far as possible we want to maintain ethnicity and hygiene during the carnival,” he said.
He also said that this year to the KCCI would be strictly enforcing ‘prohibition’ on sale of any form of intoxicants.
Giving an opportunity for the revelers to win prizes, KCCI would also holding photo competition on the theme ‘Capture the sights, colours and revelry of Hornbill Night Carnival’ from December 1 to 9 while the result would be declared on the last day. The photos can be submitted to any of the KCCI officials during the nine days.
Chris also informed that the interested persons to set up stalls can collect forms from the following place: PR Hill – Popular Bakery and Highway Traders Union Office; Main Town – KCCI Office and High School junction – Solo Enterprises.
KCCI is expecting around 100 stalls in the Main Town and 40 each in PR Hill and High School junctions receptively.
Further, KCCI would be setting up information booths four in main town and one each in PR Hill and High School junction to help revelers during the carnival.
KCCI vice president Jabou Sekhose, joint secretary Kekhrienuo Mor, coordinator office administration Azai Kerhuo, information & publicity secretary Ketuo Solo and convenor task force Peter Rutsa were also present during the press briefing.
