Kohima, Dec. 4 (EMN): The 9th Edition of the Hornbill Motor Rally TSD (Time Speed and Distance) was flagged off from Indira Gandhi Stadium, in Kohima, with Metsubo Jamir, minister for urban development gracing the prize distribution as the special invitee.
Metsubo, in his speech thanked the participants on behalf of the state government who have come from all over the country to test their skills in Nagaland. He also shared his appreciation to NAMSA, the event organiser for the professionalism in conducting the event in a world class manner.
He said that events like motor rally have been a major factor attracting tourists and nature's enthusiasts for showcasing the flora and fauna of the state. He also said the event has also been playing a pivotal role in showcasing insights of hornbill festival and Nagaland state as a whole.
Gagan Sethi, a native of Delhi who is synonymous in the country's rally circuit and the defending champion of JK Tyre hornbill rally successfully defended his title along with Sabatullah Khan, his navigator. He finished the 55 km TSD rally with a mere penalty of 29 seconds.
The second place was taken by Bijo Awom and Chandrasekhar with 1:44 minute penalty and Talking Akang and Nirav Mehta finished third with a penalty of 2:05 minutes.
In the North East class, Alex Suoho and Akhrielie Vizo took first place while Thejakkielie Zuyie and Moamar Imsong took second place. Anguso Sekhose and Mengu Yhome took the third place.
The best decorated car went to Kevin Puro and Neihu Dzuvichu while Atoka Awomi and Mercy Mezhatsu bagged the couple team prize. Nagaland Adventure Club also bagged the best institution club award while Mikrio Kyina and Arun Kyina took the honours of bagging the most disciplined team prize.
