Eight bands performed tonight to make it to the grand finale of the Hornbill International Rock Contest 2015. The bands which staged live on Friday were Run Pussy Run (Pune), Helium Heart (Siliguri), October (New Delhi), The Buddha Therapy (Kolkata), Rune Legacy (Nagaland), Ron And Me (Kolkata), Ambush (Karbi Anglong) and Retro Sonic (Shillong).
Seven bands are still left to perform on December 5 evening. Included in the list of bands to perform tomorrow evening is the international band from Australia, Big Jumanji & The Coathangers from Melbourne. The rest of the bands are Reverse Tragedy (Mizoram), Estorica (Kolkata), 2 Square (Assam), Tune Up Channel (Nagaland), The Gluttones (Nagaland) and The Lynx (Meghalaya).
The HIRC 2015, which commenced on last evening, was officially launched by Menukhol John, Commissioner & Secretary Youth Resources & Sports.
The bands which performed on the first night of the audition round were Daira (Mumbai), Fame The Band (Meghalaya), Feudal Accent (Darjeeling), Sunep Ensemble Band (Nagaland), Monkey Fingers (Nagaland), Crystal And The Witches (Sikkim), Shred X (Kolkata) and Avancer (Nagaland).
Though making the cut to perform at the HIRC finals, three bands including Foot Wings (New Delhi), Frost (Kolkata) and Grey Shack (Bangalore) could not make it for the competition.The judges for this year’s edition are George Tylor Smith, vice president of Trinity College of Music, London, Asutosh, from True School of Music, Akshay Rajpurohit, guitarist, Hardcore, Mumbai and our very own veteran guitarist Andrew Ngullie.
Tickets for Helloween show
Meanwhile, the organizers have informed the general public to book the tickets for Helloween show at the earliest.
The German power metal kings will stage live on December 7 evening at Hockey Ground, IG Stadium, Kohima.
This is the first time Helloween will be performing in this part of the country and also our country India. Helloween, considered one of the most influential metal bands in the world, will arrive Kohima on December 6 afternoon via Kolkata, and will sit for press conference on the same evening prior before they perform.
All set to welcome the metal power kings, the organizers have expectation on the show being one of the loudest concert in Nagaland. The Hornbill International Music Festival had tasted success last year with Smokie performing at the same venue. And this year even, the Helloween show will once again rock Nagaland.
The ticket redemption centres are Vuto Motors, New Secretariat Road and IG Stadium, Kohima (Concert venue). One may book the tickets in the redemption centres from 12 noon to 3 pm.
Tickets will also be made available during Night Carnival near Fancy Market and Rutsa Bakery and High School junction.
