Come December, music lovers across the State will once again get a lifetime opportunity of witnessing the performances of some of the world’s most renowned bands.
As part of the Hornbill International Music Festival 2015, musicians from across the globe will be staging live performance at the Indira Gandhi Stadium, Hockey Ground, Kohima.
The participation of internationally renowned bands such as Helloween, one of the most influential metal bands in the world, and Arrival, the official tribute band of ABBA from Sweden, have added colours to this year’s Hornbill International Music Festival which will commence on December 1 till 7.
The Hornbill International Music Festival 2015 is organized by the Music Task Force (MTF), Government of Nagaland, in association with Pepsi MTV Indies and Northeast Today. The event management partners are Sky Entertainment and Nagaland Outdoors’ Club (NOC). Meanwhile, the organizers have also officially announced Gionee as the title sponsor for this year’s edition.
Starting from December 1 to 7, music lovers will have the privilege to witness endless music of different genres. Apart from Helloween and Arrival, it also comes as good news that other internationally renowned musicians will be making special appearances during the festival. But the organizers have decided to make this surprise announcement only in the first week of December.
As per the sequence of the Hornbill International Music Festival, the music fest will begin on the first night of the Hornbill Festival 2015. On December 1 evening, the stage will be shared by Joshua & The Note Ninjas, Cadence, Infuse, Purple Fusion and other local artistes.
While on December 2, internationally acclaimed band Arrival, the official tribute band of ABBA will take the stage. In presenting the music of ABBA, the band from Sweden is expected to reach out to the audiences for a captivating extravaganza night with their chart-topping hits. Along with them, Colored Keys, Mengu Suokhrie and Viriezhünuo Solo will perform on the same night.
Beginning from December 3-6, the IG Stadium will be all set to welcome the selected 25 bands to compete for the Hornbill International Rock Contest (HIRC).
Close to 100 bands were auditioned for this year’s edition, however, only 25 bands have made the cut to compete for the ultimate title of HIRC 2015, including five local bands, one international band and 19 national bands (seven from North East region).
The first three nights from December 3 to 5 will be the audition round for the competing bands, while December 6 has been set aside for the grand finale of HIRC 2015. The prize money for the top three winners has been fixed at Rs. 10 lakhs, Rs. 5 lakhs and Rs 2.5 lakhs respectively.
Reserving the best for the last, the Hornbill International Music Festival 2015 will come to a close on December 7 evening with the much anticipated Helloween show. The German power metal band Helloween, considered as godfathers of the metal genre, has delivered countless headliner world tours, and no doubt their show is expected to assemble a big crowd this year.
Prior before the German band takes the stage, Pulse Pundit, Manipur, The Hornbill Project Nagaland and Incipit, Nagaland will perform to the audience.

The tickets for Helloween show is priced at Rs. 3,000 (Front standing), Rs. 2,000 (Middle standing) and Rs. 1,000 (Back standing), while the tickets for Arrival-ABBA show on December 2 evening is priced at Rs. 3,000 (Front standing- admit two) and Rs. 1,000 (Back standing). It has been informed that there will be a separate gallery for VIPs and patrons priced at Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 50,000 respectively.
The entry ticket for Hornbill International Rock Contest from December 3 to 6 is priced at Rs. 30, while the entry on the first night (Dec 1) will be free of cost.
