Kohima, Dec. 5: The first five days of the ongoing 10-day annual Hornbill Festival has recorded 74,383 visitors to the festival’s main venue at the Naga Heritage village Kisama. This data was provided by the state’s tourism department Monday evening.
Though there seems to be a decrease in the number of revellers to the state government’s prized annual event this year, the department statistics indicate that the figures tripled on the fourth day. The day being a holiday (Sunday), tourism department has claimed that 30,000 locals had visited Kisama, which boosted the overall data.
When asked how the head count is being done, tourist officer & statistical in-charge Tourism, Toka Tuccumi said the figures are based on the sales of entry tickets.
