
KISAMA — Tsankiu of the Yimkhiung tribe won the male category of the Bamboo Stilt Race competition at the Amphitheatre on day three of the 25th edition of the Hornbill Festival at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama.
The event was organised by the Department of Youth Resources and Sports, Government of Nagaland.
Tsankiu won a cash prize of INR 7,500. The second position was claimed by Heroto of the Sumi tribe, who won INR 5,000, while the third position was secured by Tsiuthang of the Tikhir tribe, who pocketed INR 3,000.
In the female category, M Temsunaro won first place and received INR 7,000. The second position was claimed by Mughlivi of the Sumi tribe, who won INR 5,000, while the third position was secured by Repaishi of the Tikhir tribe, who received INR 3,000.
In the male tourist category, Alex from the USA won first place, Rahul from Bihar claimed second place, and Aadesh Rai from Nepal secured third place.
In the female tourist category, Charlotte from the USA won first place, Ronta from Sweden claimed second place, and Sunita from Andhra Pradesh secured third place. The winners were awarded INR 7,000, INR 5,000, and INR 3,000, respectively.
A total of 12 males and four females competed in the tourist category of the Bamboo Stilt Race.
The prizes were handed over to the winners by Nyuvitho Nyuthe, assistant director of Youth Resources and Sports, and Naroenla, youth resources officer (YRO), Department of Youth Resources and Sports.
