KOHIMA — Qhegholi Chishi, the only woman participant representing Sumi Morung, beat male rivals to win the yelling/war cry competition held at Unity Plaza during the Hornbill Festival in Kisama on Thursday.
Tsusuthong of Tikhir Morung was declared first runner-up, and Tavesuh Tetseo of Chakhesang Morung was declared second runner-up.
In the blowing of horn contest held at Sumi Morung, seventy-year-old Lhuvepra Venyo (oldest participant) from the Chakhesang community was declared the winner. He secured 91 points.

Visosieto Vüprü from the Angami tribe secured the second with 90½ points while the third position was secured by the youngest participant, 13-year-old Ketwapeusing Haikam from the Zeliang tribe securing 71 points.

The first three winners for both competitions were awarded INR 5,000, INR 3,000, and INR 2,000 respectively along with certificate.
The events were organised by the Tribal Vision and sponsored by Department of Youth Resources and Sports, Nagaland.
