KOHIMA — A three-day Nagaland CineFest- celebrating stories and inspiring minds is underway at Bamboo Hall, Nagaland Heritage Village, Kisama.
The Nagaland CineFest is being organised by Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) Nagaland, in association with the Ministry of Broadcasting.
Kusa Fithu, additional secretary of IPR expressed hope that Nagaland cinefest will act as a platform to promote cinematic talents, encourage local story tellers and build meaningful dialogue between film makers, audiences and policy makers.
She informed that the festival will feature curated screening of regional and national films, interactive sessions, panel discussions and master classes and special showcases highlighting local cinema.

The cinefest reflects the commitment of the government of Nagaland to nurture the growth of visual media, communication and creative industry, she added.
Producers asked to fulfill the concept of responsible cinema
Satinder Kumar Bhalla, secretary to North Eastern Council (NEC), government of India, urged upon all the producers and directors to ensure that their produces fulfill the concept of responsible cinema.
He opined that the festival being hosted in parallel to the hornbill festival, speaks volume of the commitment of government of Nagaland and credited the government for putting in place such a robust system, sharing the rich cultural heritages of Nagaland, Northeast, India and across the globe.
He shared that cinema is not just for entertainment but can do wonders for today's youth.
He also stated that, today, the whole education sector is also banking upon the power of storytelling because that is where children and the youngsters feel engaged.
‘In today's age, the responsible cinema is the need of hour and depicting stories in movies has to be done very responsibly because you never know that the way you want to be presented may not be the same to audiences,’ he reminded.
Short movies titled ‘The Last Catch,’ directed by Lima Sanglir and ‘Feeling From The Past’, directed by Jepito H Zhimomi was also screened during the inaugural programme.
