
KOHIMA — The Hornbill Esports Championship season I,organised by the Department of Youth Resource and Sports, commenced at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima, on Friday.
The BGMI, DOTA 2 and FC24 (FIFA) will be played during the two-day event. The organisers informed that around 150 Esports players are taking part in the event.
In BGMI category, a total of 16 teams (four players in each team) are taking part, in DOTA 2, a total of five teams (five players in each team) and in FC24, a total of 32 players are in the fray.
During the inaugural programme, KethosituoSekhose, Director of YRS department, shared why the state government decided to organise the Hornbill EsportsChampionship.
He informed that this season they are starting humbly with only three games but in the days to come they will add more sports. The government has a lot of plans for Esports, Sekhoseadded.
Anthony Ngullie, Secretary of Youth Resource and Sports,in his address, said that today Esports have become popular due to the technology.
The department earlier informed that the prize money for BGMI is INR 1.20 lakh for first position, INR 60,000 for second, INR 40,000 for third, INR 20,000 for fourth, INR 15,000 for fifth, INR 10,000 for sixth, INR 9000 for seventh, INR 8000 for eight, INR 7000 for ninth, INR 6000 for tenth and INR 5000 for MVP.
For DOTA 2, the prize money is INR 1 lakh for the ultimate winner, INR 60,000, INR 30,000 and INR 10,000 for second, third and fourth positions, respectively.
For FC24, the prize money is INR 25,000, INR 15,000, INR 7000 and INR 3000 for first, second, third, and fourth positions, respectively.
