Dimapur, Nov. 20 (EMN): The Government High School, Akuluto celebrated golden jubilee under the theme ‘Honoring the Past,’ on Nov. 17.
Students are the real asset of the nation, maintained Deputy DEO, Zunheboto, Emilo Patton speaking at the celebration. She stressed on the importance of students teachers relation and pointed that quality learning largely depends on quality teaching.
VC Khutovi Sema, the only surviving member of the 1st Managing Board of the school, briefing on the history of the school said the school during the early period functioned through the contributions made by public leaders and elders. The school, he said was finally recognised by the government during the tenure the previous finance minister Dr. Hokishe Sema.
Prof. Horticulture department, SARSD, NU, Medziphema, Dr. Akali who is also an alumni of the school in her speech said “the mistake of a lawyer ends in jail, the mistake of a doctor ends in grave, but the mistake of a teacher destroys the whole nation.”
Dr. Hesheto Chishi offered the invocation prayer while convenor of jubilee planning board unveiled the jubilee gate, on behalf of the chief guest. Headmaster of the school delivered the welcome address.
