Easter is going far enough
Easter was Jesus’ lasting gift to mankind. Easter is going far enough to be true to God’s calling and task for you. It means keeping the process clean, happy in the knowledge that God decides the outcome and that is the best.
At Gethsemane when Jesus said “No” to his temptation not to go further and said to God, “Your will, not mine, be done,” he inaugurated Christianity. The price he paid for going far enough “to take the away the sins of the world” was revealed in his desperate cry on the Cross at Golgotha, “My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?”
His last whispered words signaled the end of his darkest hour and the triumph of good over evil, life over death, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit”. The next morning was the bright dawn of Easter!
How silently, how silently the wondrous gift is given!
For St Ignatius Loyola going far enough was,
“To give and not to count the cost,
To fight and not to heed the wounds,
To toil and not to seek for rest,
To labour and not to ask for any reward,
Save that of knowing that we do Thy will”.

Easter is the oldest Christian holiday and the most important day of the church year. All the Christian movable feast and the entire liturgical year of worship are arranged around Easter.
The commemoration of Easter is Jesus victory over death. Christ’s resurrection symbolizes the eternal life that is granted to all who believes in his name. However Easter did not always symbolizes Christ’s resurrection from the dead and the meaning of Easter was quite different than what Christians celebrate today.
Today the meaning of Easter for the Christian is that of honoring and recognizing Jesus Christ resurrection from the death and his glorious promises of eternal life for all who believe in son Jesus, and if Christ has not been raised than our proclamation will be in vain and your faith will be in vain.
