DIMAPUR — As part of its ongoing commitment to
road safety, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) conducted a road safety
awareness campaign in Dimapur on Thursday.
According to a press release, it educated over 1,900
students and staff members from Livingstone Foundation International, Shalom
Public School, and Sakus Mission College.
The release stated that, recognising the pivotal role of
young individuals in shaping a safer road culture, HMSI's campaign aimed to
instill safe road use habits through engaging and interactive programmes.
“By regularly conducting such initiatives across schools,
colleges, and institutions—both government and non-government—HMSI seeks to
significantly reduce road accidents and foster a culture of responsible road
usage,” it said, adding that these campaigns seek to address the pressing need
for road safety education and foster responsible driving habits, particularly
among young riders.
The Dimapur campaign included a variety of activities, such
as theoretical safety riding lessons, danger prediction training, road safety
quizzes, helmet awareness sessions, and practical exercises using a riding
trainer.
HMSI expressed gratitude to Livingstone Foundation
International, Shalom Public School, and Sakus Mission College for their
support in making the campaign a success.
It was mentioned that in 2021, Honda announced its global
vision statement for 2050, aiming to achieve zero traffic collision fatalities
involving Honda motorcycles and automobiles. In India, HMSI is working in
alignment with this vision and the government of India's directive to reduce
fatalities by half by 2030.
HMSI recently launched its digital road safety learning
platform, E-Gurukul. This platform offers training modules tailored to three
specific age groups, ranging from 5 to 18 years, ensuring a comprehensive
approach to road safety. E-Gurukul can be accessed at egurukul.honda.hmsi.in.
