Dimapur, October 14: A total of 443 new recruits comprising of 32 havildars and 411 constables were enrolled into the Nagaland police force. They were formally inducted at the 53rd NAP/IR ceremonial attestation parade held at NAP Training Centre stadium, Chumukedima, Dimapur, on October 14.
Addressing the ceremony, State Home Minister Y Patton reminded the new recruits that their profession was bounded to contribute to the people, society, state and the nation at large besides their survival. Towards this, he urged upon them to give the best of their service and become an asset to the state. “You are the guardian of the public just as our motto says, ‘security, service and sacrifice,’ therefore remember these three words during the course of your duty and discharge your responsibilities accordingly,” the chief guest exhorted.
Informing about complaints received with regard to police personnel taking law into their own hands, Patton cautioned that those defaming the department unnecessarily would be dealt strictly without any hesitations.
While regretting that many do not want to serve in remote areas where their service is most needed, the chief guest appealed to the police personnel to give their best service wherever they are posted.
