The Home Minister of Nagaland has called for a united Nagaland to bring about an honorable solution to the vexing political issue, even while lamenting the weariness of the people of Nagaland to the extortion by the various Naga underground groups.
He was addressing people in Mangkolemba in Mokokchung district on Friday during a program marking the inauguration of new government offices.
In his address, the Home minister called upon the people for a united Nagaland for an honorable solution to the Indo-Naga problem the earliest. He asserted “the Government of Indian is ready to offer us any solution, but it depends on the Nagas’. He lamented that the Naga people were now tired of the so-called ‘taxation’ from the various Naga underground groups.
Therefore, the Home minister called upon the Nagas to work to bring the all the armed groups under one umbrella ‘so that peace will prevail in the state.’
He also said that development can be implemented if there is ‘cooperation between the people and the government.’
It was indeed a red-letter day for the sub division of Mongkolemba in Mokokchung district as on Friday it got three new government offices.
Mangkolemba’s new building to house the ADC office was inaugurated by Home Minister Y Patton. Also, two more government offices were inaugurated. The Sub Treasurer’s Office was inaugurated by Advisor Treasuries & Account TM Lotha while parliamentary Secretary for Municipal Affairs R Tohanba inaugurated the new constructed Tourism Centre.
Mangkolemba Sub Division looks after three ranges Changkikong, Tsurangkong and Japukong and covers two assembly constituencies. The subdivision is located approximately seventy kilometers away from Mokokchung headquarters.
Also, former minister Chubatemjen, while speaking on behalf of the three ranges Changkikong, Japukong and Tsurangkong, made some points for the state government to tackle at the earliest possible time. He made some demands with regard to the three ranges especially with regard to healthcare, security, roads and communication and the overall development of Mangkolemba sub-division.
In response, Home Minister Y Patton said that all the demands cannot be met at once. However, he assured to discuss the matter with the chief minister and his cabinet colleagues. He assured that the eleven kilometer stretch of road from Longnak junction to Mangkolemba, which is in a deplorable condition, will be repaired at the earliest.
He further conveyed the regret of Chief Minister TR Zeliang who was scheduled to be the chief guest at today’s program and could not attend the program due to some unavoidable circumstances. However, Patton assured that the government would initiate some big project at Mangkolemba and it would be inaugurated by the Chief Minister.
Cultural dances were performed by cultural troupes from Japu village, Dibuia village and Aosenden village. Former Naga Idol winner Moanungsang (2006) and Toshinaro (2008) also presented special songs at the function.
