The two petitioners of the municipal election matter in the supreme court, Naga Mothers’ Association (NMA) advisor Rosemary Dzuvichu and NMA president Abeiu Meru have submitted representations to the chief minister of Nagaland and the chief electoral officer, Nagaland on April 9 to hold the municipal elections at the earliest, based on the supreme court order which has stayed the division bench order and its implementation and revived the single judge order to hold municipal elections and implement women reservation.
The single judge A.K.Goswami had directed the holding of municipal elections and implementation of women reservation as per the Nagaland Municipal First Amendment Act in October 2011. A meeting of the Joint Action Committee on Women Reservation (JACWR) will be convened soon, informed a release issued by JACWR.
