Dimapur, May 20 : State Home Minister, Y Patton, on May 20, visited Peren DEF and interacted with officers and personnel. He was accompanied by DGO LL Doungel, and IGP L Bendang Lemtur.
Peren Superintendent of Police, V John, briefed the Home Minister and visiting officials about the history of DEF Peren and the present status of the unit. He also highlighted some urgent requirement of the Unit regarding construction of SP Office and other infrastructures at the New District Headquarters.
The SP also apprised the Home Minister of the extreme shortage of manpower in the unit due to which no armed police could be deployed in any of the full fledged operational Police Stations in the district namely Peren, Jalukie, Athibung and Tening.
The Home Minister gave a patient hearing to the grievances and difficulties being faced by the unit and assured to do his best to fulfill the requirements. Briefing the officers, he also mentioned the strategic importance of Peren district which is bordered by Assam in the West and Manipur in the South and asked all officers to be sincere and dedicated in the performance of their duties.
