Dimapur, July 28 (EMN): Cadets attending annual training camp of 24 Nagaland (Indep) Company NCC at Livingstone Foundation Higher Secondary School, Dimapur, were sensitised on HIV/ AIDS and drug abuse.
A press release received here on Saturday informed that the cadets had shown keen interest to learn safe methods and necessity to safeguard themselves. Yanger Kier from the District AIDS prevention and control unit (DAPCU), Dimapur, under aegis of Nagaland AIDS control society (NSACS) conducted the awareness programme.
It added that the cadets were also shown integrated counselling and testing mobile unit and demonstrated how HIV testing is conducted. It stated that the cadets have understood their responsibility and resolved to make their surrounding aware of the disease and also spread the message wherever they are placed.
The DAPCU have expressed desire to associate with NCC for many such programmes in future. The camp commandant also thanked the Nagaland state AIDS control society for organising such an informative awareness session for the cadets.
Earlier in the day, cadets were demonstrated guard of honour drill prepared by NCC permanent instructor staff, Hav. Sanjay Kumar. The event was followed by inter-coy guard of honour competition which was witnessed by the entire participating cadets of the camp.
As part of training of trainers, the associate NCC officers were given refresher firing practice and training.
