- DIMAPUR — The Red
Ribbon Club of Salesian College of Higher Education, Dimapur, in collaboration
with the National Service Scheme (NSS) and the Women's Grievance Cell and
Prevention of Sexual Harassment, organised an HIV&AIDS awareness programme
on Saturday at Bernick Hall, Dimapur.
- According to a press release, the event aimed to educate
students on the causes, prevention, and treatment of HIV&AIDS, emphasising
the importance of early diagnosis and proper medical care.
- The resource person, Sr. Rosina, CMC, from Chavara Home,
speaking on the occasion, provided information on HIV&AIDS, including its
transmission, impact on the immune system, and the necessity of regular
testing.
- She stressed that although there is no cure for HIV,
antiretroviral therapy (ART) can significantly slow its progression and enable
individuals to lead healthy lives. She also highlighted the risks of delayed
diagnosis and the importance of adhering to prescribed treatment regimens.
- Following the session, a discussion hour allowed students to
ask questions and clarify doubts regarding HIV&AIDS, its stigma, and
preventive measures.
- Earlier, delivering the welcome address, Fr. Dr. Paul Panii
SDB, principal of Salesian College of Higher Education, highlighted the
significance of such awareness initiatives in empowering young minds with
knowledge and fostering a responsible approach to health and well-being.
